“Friends Don’t Let Friends Go To Jeff Mach Events: Two successful events coming this year, and attacks have already started.

Wow.

Here’s my basic point: If people think I have done wrong, they should go after ME. Not attack the event. AND. They should tell us what we’ve supposedly done, so that, if we’ve done something wrong, we can try to FIX it.

Simply telling people not to go is useless. It’s not trying to fix anything or protect anyone; it’s just trying to hurt people.

Now Mark Breinnesen of Everything We Do Is Epic is a special case. When (probably not to Mark’s surprise, as he knows their system well) refused to pay us, he demanded payment for the venue, then offered to take it by taking over the event and having me run it for him. I agreed–which is why Wonderplace Alpha II couldn’t finance itself by pre-selling spaces and tickets they way an event normally would.

The first I heard that Mark did NOT trust me enough to have me as a business partner was when I ran across that note.

HERE ARE MY THREE POINTS ON COMPENSATING PEOPLE:

  1. I am recovering from putting on an event for the Township of Lake George at the beginning of last year and have them deny me payment for essentially all of 2025.

Needless to say, this has completely sucked for paying people for 2025, While they’ve finally (as of a few days ago!) made final payment, being a year behind in all of your payments is incredibly expensive and painful for all involved.

The Township of Warren did take the time to send me a cease and desist, which means I’ll be careful to be clear and accurate. But let me put it this way; their claim is that I ‘failed to follow directions’. That is the crux of why we did an event the first week of May, 2025, and didn’t receive full payment until 2026. I’ll simply say: a simple ‘failure to follow directions’ does not entail a year of discussion and documentation between a company and a township. It was, and is, my belief that the Township was trying to delay paying us as much as possible, possibly permanently.

It destroyed my marriage; I am not married now. It hurt a lot of my friendships. And it simply wasn’t necessary: we put on the event. We submitted the invoices. We should have been paid, properly and on time.
  2. I will, eventually, be suing Eventbrite for any remaining money people are owed for the Wicked World’s Fair.
  3. In the meantime:

I’m Jeff Mach. While I write books, it’s not going to make me rich, or even self-supporting for now.

If you think I have done wrong, go after ME. I have not had a SINGLE criminal complaint against me. Not one. Because people know they’d have to provide actual proof. Whereas if they just make things up, they can say whatever they want: https://jeffmach.com/malice-libel-lies-and-sabotaging-hundreds-of-vendors-the-attacks-on-the-odditorium/
